“Class Q” Regulations Barn Redevelopment
This former potato store changed its usage from agricultural to residential, under the “class Q” (general permitted development planning regulations).
BJ Bain Building Contractors Ltd have the opportunity to transform it back to its steel frame to create an eco-friendly family home. The shed has been stripped bare and laid with new foundations. Wall, roof and floor installation has commenced, and a ground source heat pump has been installed. The dwelling has been provided with a new electricity supply and a new bore hole fitted for water supply. The home will also be equipped with solar panels. The roof consists of a raised seam aluminium sheeting sat on a super insulated commercial sheet that sits on the top of the original purlins.
Working alongside the architect and structural engineer we were able to keep much of the existing frame to keep timescales to a minimum and ensure the project meets the planned completion date.
